THE PRIZE 2001 – 2021
Prior to 2021, we awarded three annual prizes of $1 million each in fields chosen under the rubric of the three time dimensions – past, present and future.
Looking Back
Between the years 2001 and 2021, the Dan David Prize recognized and encouraged innovative and interdisciplinary research that cut across traditional boundaries and paradigms.
Each year, three $1 million prizes were awarded to laureates in different fields, corresponding with the three time dimensions – past, present and future.
In the past time dimension, laureates who expand knowledge of former times were selected. The present time dimension prize recognized achievements that shape and enrich society. The future time dimension focused on breakthroughs that promised to improve our world.
Dan David Prize laureates donated 10% of their prize money to postgraduate students in their respective fields, thereby contributing to the community and advancing a new generation of scholars.
2001 – 2021 LAUREATES
Before being redesigned in 2021, the Dan David Prize celebrated those who made outstanding contributions to humanity in fields which were selected each year to represent the three time dimensions – past, present and future.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2001 – 2021
Every year from 2001-2021, laureates of the Dan David Prize donated 10% of their award to doctoral and post-doctoral researchers in their respective fields in the form of scholarships, with the goal of fostering innovative research and investing in future contributions to humanity, in line with Dan David’s vision.
Twenty scholarships were awarded each year to young researchers showing exceptional promise. Ten were given to scholars at universities throughout the world and ten to scholars at Tel Aviv University.
