HISTORY DAY 2022 – Hidden Hands: Unlocking Past Secrets
Moderator: Helen Carr | Participants: Dr. Verena Krebs, Prof. Efthymia Nikita and Prof. Kristina Richardson
A panel on new insights about the methodologies behind current historiography and archaeology, and the ways scholars of the past tell the stories we uncover. Featuring 2022 Dan David Prize winners Efi Nikita (unlocking the secrets of bones), Kristina Richardson (working with the troublesome words in medieval manuscripts) and Verena Krebs (making sense of Ethiopian material culture). This panel focuses on the process of uncovering the stories of the past by following that process through a number of stages – from discovery, through questions and methods of analysis, to interpretation and storytelling. History Day panels were held on May 10, 2022 at the Steinhardt Museum of Natural History in Tel Aviv as part of the 2022 Dan David Prize award ceremony events.
