History Day 2023 – Digitizing the past

In recent years, digital humanities have utilized new technologies to permit innovative avenues of research and communication. This panel explored how historians can use digital humanities methods to reach new audiences and expand the impact of their work. Chao Tayiana Maina and Adam Clulow discussed the capacities of new technologies, the power relationships between the Global North and Global South and the ways that they see digital humanities methods having the potential to recenter power as well as engage a broader public in experiencing and understanding history.
