Prof. Itamar Rabinovich is the president of the Dan David Foundation. He is a former president of Tel Aviv University and a professor emeritus of Middle Eastern History. In the mid-nineties, he was Israel’s ambassador to Washington and chief negotiator with Syria. He is Vice-chair of the Institute of National Security Studies, affiliated with Tel Aviv University. He is a distinguished Foreign Policy Fellow at The Brookings Institute and a Fellow of The American Philosophical Society and The American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His latest books are Yitzhak Rabin: Soldier, Leader, Statesman (Yale University Press, 2016) and Syrian Requiem (co-authored), Princeton University Press, 2021.
